ICT

The impact of ICT on our lives continues to grow, you can email through your TV, surf the internet on your mobile phone, even shop from home via the computer. Modern technology is changing the way we live and it’s essential that your child can take advantage of the opportunities this presents. They need to learn how to get hold of information, evaluate suitability, store it, share it with others and tailor it to meet their own needs.

In our school ICT is a cross curricular tool used to support and enhance learning. Throughout school we use ‘netbooks’, and currently have 60 in school which are accessed by every class. All of these are connected to the internet and we have a good supply of suitable software for the children to use. The school also uses a large range of resources to ensure that ICT can be used as a learning tool throughout the curriculum including tablets and ipads.

Children learn how to safely navigate the internet, develop digital photography skills, develop coding skills, as well as use sound and animation recording equipment.

We place great emphasis on understanding the safe use of the internet and regularly cover online safety during lessons.

We aspire for our children to:

Confidently and independently use and apply computing skills to support and extend their learning.
Develop a culture where the safe use of ICT becomes second nature to our pupils, thus ensuring they are ready and able to embrace the technological advances which will happen in the future.
